First Aid and CPR

Program Outline

This program is aligned with the nationally recognised training HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid and HLTAID009 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation. This program is suitable to all persons who may be required to provide a first aid and CPR response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.  

This program covers the competencies and understanding needed to administer initial medical assistance to an injured person following first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) protocols set by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other leading Australian medical organisations. 

This program will provide learners with a range of knowledge and skills related to: 

  • Responding to an emergency situation

  • Applying appropriate first aid procedures

  • Perform CPR procedures

  • Communicating details of incident

  • Reviewing the incident


Delivery mode

This program will be facilitated in partnership with What Ability. You will complete an eLearning package as Assessment, before completing a full-day face-to-face workshop including observations assessments of What Ability contextualised scenarios. 


Program Outcome 

This program is intended to provide learners with the following skills:

  • Identify and acknowledge emergency scenarios promptly. 
  • Evaluate and mitigate immediate risks to personal safety and others nearby. 
  • Assess the injured individual and determine if CPR is required. 
  • Contact emergency services promptly for assistance. 
  • Administer CPR following the guidelines established by the ARC. 
  • Demonstrate respectful conduct towards the casualty throughout the process. 
  • Utilise an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) effectively.
  • Communicate incident specifics accurately to emergency responders. 
  • Report incident particulars to the workplace as necessary. 
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of all records and information related to the incident. 


Attendance requirement

You will be required to complete the eLearning package and assessment prior to attending the full day face-to-face workshop. Attendance at the workshop is necessary to complete all elements of this qualification. 


Assessments information 

Your online assessment is a knowledge quiz relating to First Aid of your state, identification of signs and symptoms and the management of different injuries or illnesses. 
The observation assessment which will take place in the face-to-face workshop will be an observation of the practical skills required to assess, identify and manage various types of injuries and illnesses. 


Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Skill assessment

LLN stands for Language, literacy, and numeracy. All learners enrolled in an accredited course are required to complete this self-assessment. This is for us to understand your current levels of language, literacy, and numeracy and then, if required, tailor training & delivery as per the need. This self-assessment is designed to help us help you, if needed. Wisdom conducts LLN Assessment through a tool called ‘LLN Robot’.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the program by meeting the assessment requirements for HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid and HLTAID009 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation, Wisdom Learning will issue learners with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.
