Certificate IV in Government Security (Personnel Vetting) Department of Home Affairs

PSP40316 Cert IV Government Security (Personnel Vetting)

Course Description

Your program will be facilitated by highly experienced Wisdom facilitators with contemporary experience in security vetting, national security and the intelligence fields.

The program will be delivered using a variety of delivery methodologies including facilitated discussion, presentations on the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), theory presentations, group work and simulated workplace situations where you can test your knowledge and skills, in a supportive learning environment, with regular discussion exercises and debriefs.  It is expected that you will fully engage in all elements of the program and be prepared to be challenged and work outside your comfort zone to fully embrace the learning you will be exposed to.

You will also be required to complete a number of assignments/short answer questions, security vetting assessment reports and group activities, as well as some short presentations as a group. You will complete these assessments in the workshops as well as afterhours/after the workshop. You will also undertake a workplace based assessment activity after the workshops.

To enable Wisdom to continuously improve the program, feedback will be sought and encouraged throughout the program, and during an end of program evaluation process. You will also undertake a self-evaluation process at the commencement of the program to identify your skills and knowledge and opportunities for growth during the program, with a second self-evaluation at the end of the program.  This data will provide you with a clear indication of how the program has enhanced your skills and knowledge in key areas of focus.

USI Information and requirement (not mandatory but recommended to inform prior)

What is a USI?

The Commonwealth Government has brought in the Unique Student Identifier (USI) system for the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector. A USI is made up of ten numbers and letters and from January 1 2015 all students enrolled in a VET qualification (full or partial) must provide a USI to their registered training organisation.

As a Registered Training Organisation, Wisdom is required to collect and report learner's USI number under Commonwealth Legislation. It is also mandatory for all the learners enrolled in an accredited course to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) number. USI creates an online record of your Australian training achievements. If we don't have your USI record verified against our Student Management System, we will not be able to issue your certificates on completion, neither report your Training Activity to reflect in your USI Transcript.

Don’t have one?

Please visit www.usi.gov.au/ to create your USI.

Already have one?

If you think you already have a USI number from previous training, please visit https://www.usi.gov.au/faqs/find-your-usi to locate your USI.

Recognition of existing qualifications & prior learning

It is a requirement of the Standards for RTOs 2025 that all RTOs must offer RPL to a learner. Any special arrangements that RTOs may offer to facilitate RPL are to be described. If there are no special arrangements the following statement or similar can be used:

‘Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) will be offered to applicants at time of enrolment.’
