Our commitment to delivery

Wisdom Learning is committed to delivering your learning and development program. If for some reason delivery cannot occur as planned, Wisdom Learning will provide a suitable alternative program or learning approach to achieve the outcomes of the planned program. Our commitment to quality includes ongoing compliance with all regulatory and issuance standards, including all aspects of the national VET Quality Framework.

Fees and charges

Wisdom Learning provides details of the fees and charges for all learning and assessment programs prior to registration. The cost of a Wisdom Learning learning and development program includes all administration fees, materials fees and any other charges. Participants are not required to pay additional fees for Wisdom Learning programs, unless Wisdom Learning is required to provide additional support to assist you to complete your program beyond the scheduled delivery. If you are unsure of the fees and charges involved, or would like more information, call (02) 6257 8588.

Fees paid in advance

Wisdom Learning does not collect fees in advance from individuals of more than $1,500. For an individual enrolling in and paying for a qualification program costing more than $1,500, Wisdom Learning requires an initial payment of $1,500 in advance of the program. Select the Tentative Enrolment option and complete the enrolment process; a Wisdom Learning team member will contact you to arrange payment of the $1,500 deposit and confirm your enrolment. Contact us on (02) 6257 8588 or service@wisdomlearning.com.au if you need help with your enrolment.

Refund policy

Australian Apprentices will be offered, where requested, a refund of tuition fees paid up until two days after the first programmed workshop of their program. Refunds requested by fee-for-service learners are reviewed and determined on a case-by-case basis. Please contact our service team for further information.

Registration confirmation

Wisdom Learning will send a confirmation email after receiving your online registration.

Unique Student Identifier.

The Commonwealth Government introduced the Unique Student Identifier (USI) for the vocational education and training sector. From 1 January 2015, all students undertaking nationally recognised training delivered by a registered training organisation need a USI. A USI is made up of ten numbers and letters and gives you access to an online USI account containing all of your nationally recognised training records and results.

A USI is not compulsory at enrolment, but it must be provided to Wisdom Learning before a qualification or statement of attainment can be issued. You can create your USI online at usi.gov.au. It takes a few minutes, and you need a form of identification, such as a driver licence. The Industry and Skills Council of Ministers has determined a range of exemptions from the USI scheme; where an exemption applies, training organisations can issue qualifications or statements of attainment to students who do not have a USI. More information about exemptions is at usi.gov.au.

Complaints.

We want to continually improve our services for our clients, and we welcome and encourage feedback, both positive and negative. Let us know what you think in person, or email service@wisdomlearning.com.au.

Wisdom Learning strives to provide services and products that exceed our clients’ expectations. We accept that there may be occasions where our clients are not satisfied with services or products within, or outside of, our control and may wish to lodge a complaint. Our complaint handling process is based on the National Complaints Code, the National Code of Good Practice for Responding to Complaints about Vocational Education and Training Quality, and is built on the following principles.

  • FairThe right to be heard and the right to an impartial decision.
  • AccessibleA range of methods to lodge complaints, and a process flexible enough to cater for people with special needs.
  • VisibleThe process for handling complaints is well publicised to clients and staff.
  • ComprehensiveAll genuine complaints are taken seriously and investigated.
  • ResponsiveComplaints are responded to in a timely manner.
  • AccountableComplaints are monitored, actions taken and actions communicated.
  • ConstructiveSolutions are identified and implemented to address the causes of complaints.

In applying these principles, Wisdom Learning will consider complaints as an opportunity to improve and learn; respond to complaints in a timely manner; act on any substantiated complaint; aim to resolve complaints informally where possible; strive to resolve the issue honestly, fairly, respectfully and without bias; and report issues of a legal or criminal nature to the appropriate authorities.

Complaint handling process

  1. Raise it with usInitially, your feedback or complaint may be expressed verbally to a Wisdom Learning team member.
  2. Formal complaintIf you are not satisfied with the response or resolution, put your complaint in writing to the Chief Executive Officer, Jana Clyde, at jana@wisdomlearning.com.au. It is both important and useful to include the outcome or resolution you expect.
  3. Our responseWe provide written acknowledgement of your complaint within two days of receipt, and our written response within two weeks. During the resolution process you are given the opportunity to speak with an appropriate Wisdom Learning staff member, usually an executive; because a formal written process has commenced, our first response will typically be in writing.
  4. Independent mediationIf you are not satisfied with our response, advise us in writing and we will engage an independent party to mediate a resolution. This mediation is arranged within two weeks of receipt of your written notification.
  5. External avenuesYou may also contact the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) for advice on further action on 1300 701 801 or through its online complaint form at asqa.gov.au. The National Training Complaints Hotline is available online or on 13 38 73, Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm. Complaints can also be sent to skills@act.gov.au.

Information about qualifications.

What to expect when your program leads to a nationally recognised qualification or units of competency.

Course information

You will be provided with a course outline to help you plan your learning and identify units for which you may wish to apply for recognition of prior learning or credit transfer. If you have not yet received your course outline, or you wish to seek advice about whether the training product is appropriate for your needs, speak to a Wisdom Learning team member or call (02) 6257 8588.

Foundation skills

Foundation skills support learning and workforce participation and apply across a variety of jobs and life contexts. They are sometimes referred to as key skills, core skills, life skills, essential skills, key competencies, necessary skills and transferable skills.

Flexible learning and assessment

We provide flexibility in our learning and assessment processes to cater for individual or organisational needs, and adjustments can be made to the assessment process to allow for the special needs of individuals or organisations. Your Wisdom Learning trainer or assessor will confidentially discuss any special language, literacy or numeracy needs you may have and will adjust learning and assessment strategies to cater for them, while maintaining the validity and rigour of the assessment process.

Supporting you

If you have to put your study on hold due to personal circumstances, our learning consultants will liaise with you to make alternative arrangements. If you are deemed not yet competent after a program has finished and wish to continue to pursue the qualification or competency, Wisdom Learning will negotiate a pathway with you to complete it. This could include individual coaching sessions, assessments or online activities; additional charges may apply.

Recognition of prior learning and credit transfer.

Wisdom Learning encourages recognition of prior learning (RPL), and recognition is available to all participants. The RPL process recognises the skills and knowledge you can currently demonstrate. Your work or life experience or formal study can be recognised through RPL and credit transfer, which can give you advanced standing in your Wisdom Learning program: participants who can demonstrate their competency through an RPL assessment or credit transfer do not have to undertake those components of the training program.

RPL and credit transfer process

  1. Examine the course outlineReview the Wisdom Learning program or course outline and the units of competency for the relevant learning program.
  2. Contact Wisdom LearningBriefly discuss the RPL and credit transfer process and your relevant work or life experience or formal study. This discussion guides you through the process and the assessment requirements.
  3. ApplyApply for RPL using the Wisdom Learning RPL application form.
  4. BriefingAttend a briefing session with a Wisdom Learning assessor, which goes through the RPL assessment or credit transfer process in detail and helps you identify the type, range and quantity of evidence you need to provide for the units of competency you have applied for. You are advised if additional evidence is required.
  5. Evidence and assessmentSupply evidence as discussed and complete additional assessment activities if required. Your evidence is assessed against the units of competency of the relevant training package, the assessment decision is made and feedback is provided.
  6. OutcomeIf you meet the assessment requirements you are granted RPL or credit transfer in your learning program, issued with a statement of attainment, or issued with a qualification, as relevant. As with all Wisdom Learning assessments, you have the right to appeal the assessment decision.

Recognition of existing qualifications

As an RTO, Wisdom Learning recognises all qualifications issued by other RTOs in any state or territory. Any units of competency or qualifications successfully completed with another RTO are recognised by Wisdom Learning as credit transfer, so you do not have to complete any training or undertake any assessment for those units or qualifications as part of your Wisdom Learning program.

Assessment appeals.

Participants can appeal against all Wisdom Learning assessment decisions. This option is communicated clearly by your assessor prior to the commencement of the assessment and is also documented in course materials.

  1. Lodge an appealIf you wish to appeal an assessment, note this in the feedback section of the assessment feedback sheet you are asked to sign.
  2. Review and re-assessmentWisdom Learning’s Chief Executive Officer, or an independent Wisdom Learning assessor, reviews the assessment, contacts you and arranges a re-assessment with a different Wisdom Learning assessor.
  3. Appealing the re-assessmentIf you wish to appeal the re-assessment decision, note this on the feedback sheet you are again asked to sign. The Chief Executive Officer, or an independent Wisdom Learning assessor, reviews the re-assessment and contacts you. On request, a re-assessment by an independent assessor from outside Wisdom Learning is arranged at no cost to you.
  4. External helpThe relevant industry skills body and/or the Australian Skills Quality Authority may be contacted to help resolve the issue.
  5. If you remain dissatisfiedYou will be advised to progress your complaint through the Wisdom Learning complaint process set out above.

Certificates.

Wisdom Learning issues electronic certificates to learners by default; physical certificates can be requested. Wisdom Learning issues an electronic statement of attainment for any single or collective units of competency that do not result in a full qualification, and an electronic qualification testamur when all evidence requirements for the qualification have been fulfilled. For lost certificates, Wisdom Learning issues a replacement qualification testamur or statement of attainment without an additional service charge.
